Augustine House – A private African Homestay
Welcome to Augustine House, a modern European styled house located on the edge of scenic Kamachumu escarpment, where visitors from all over the world enjoy a ‘home from home’ experience. The house is set in a banana and coffee plantation typical of homes in bahaya culture, with fresh air gently blowing in from Lake Victoria and beautiful streams and waterfalls just a short walk away.
Augustine House has five bedrooms (three with toilet and shower ensuite) where up to eight people can be comfortably accommodated. It costs USD$35 per person per day for Bed and Breakfast. Camping at the house is also possible at a small price of USD$5 per person per day with your own tent.
Meals can be provided, and all our food is tasty and fresh as most produce is harvested from our own garden. You can also cook your own food if you wish to be creative during your stay! We can offer you a range of private half and full day excursions (additional cost) or if want to relax at home we provide darts, drafts, chess and cards to help you pass the time away!
Kamachumu is a beautiful high altitude village in which you will experience calm African village life and times long gone by. You will wake up to the sound of the birds every morning and can interact with the friendly villagers before exploring the ancient sights and traditions of the local area.
If you love peace and quiet in a natural environment, this is the place to stay!
