Zanzibar is located in the Indian Ocean, 25 miles off the Tanzanian coast and just south of the equator. It is an archipelago made up of Zanzibar, the Pemba Islands and several islets. Known locally as ‘Unguja’ the island is only 60 miles long and 25 miles wide, yet contains within it a diverse mix of cultures and natural wonders which have drawn many to its shores in wonder for centuries.
